Planning opportunities for your trade

Solar installation opportunities

Find planning proposals that mention solar panels or photovoltaic equipment. Use the proposal and original documents to distinguish installation opportunities from general energy-related work.

Free previews show a mix of work in your chosen area. Members can narrow results by work type and keyword.

Focus on an explicit solar proposal

Start a member search with Energy and electrical, then try solar and photovoltaic as separate keywords. The category also covers other energy-related proposals, so the category alone is not a solar installation list.

Read whether the equipment is the subject of the application or one part of a larger building scheme. A document that discusses an energy strategy may mention solar without confirming the final installation scope.

Match the project to your services

  • Site and scale: distinguish a small rooftop proposal from a wider commercial or ground-mounted scheme by reviewing the source documents.
  • Equipment: check whether the description identifies photovoltaic panels, other solar equipment or a broader package of energy work.
  • Design stage: look for revisions to layouts and supporting documents before treating an early description as a settled specification.

The application does not establish the condition of a roof, electrical capacity, a procurement route or an agreed installation date. Work Signals is a way to find evidence to review; it does not carry out a technical assessment of the site.

Planning records show only part of the solar market

Some solar installations can use permitted development rights rather than a full planning application, subject to the applicable rules. See the Planning Portal guidance on solar equipment on buildings. A planning search is not a count of all households or businesses considering solar.

Likewise, an EPC rating is supporting property information, not proof that somebody intends to purchase panels. Prioritise an explicit proposal when researching installation work.

Preview the area, then narrow the work

The free search above shows up to five local signals across work categories. Members can apply solar keywords, inspect full details, save relevant opportunities and opt in to alerts. London and North West coverage varies by council; the coverage page shows the published collection.
